Next Gen Docker for Smart Automation for DevOps, GenAI, and Agentic Workflows

Mode: Online

Workshop Duration: Duration: 2 Days ~ 4 hours each session

Dates: 31st July & 1st Aug 2025

Timings: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM IST (each day)

Overview:

This two-part online workshop equips experienced developers to designed to help AI Ready technology professionals go beyond Docker basics and explore advanced workflows.

Key Objectives:

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Implement modern CI/CD automation.
  • explore emerging use cases for AI-augmented, development using Docker’s latest toolchain, including the Docker MCP toolbox, Docker Model
  • Automate release pipelines using GitHub Actions and Dagger
  • Develop intelligent developer environments using devcontainers and MCP
  • Run container-native AI experiments with Docker Model Runner and container-use

Prerequisites:

  • Working experience with Docker CLI and container lifecycle
  • Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and basic CI/CD concepts
  • General fluency with command-line tools in Linux/macOS/Windows
  • Optional: introductory knowledge of Python, Go, or Node.js

Course Outline

Day 1 (4 Hours)

Module 1: Dev Containers and AI-Augmented Development with MCP

  • Introduction to DevContainers using `devcontainer.json`
  • Setting up VSCode Remote Containers for development
  • Exploring the Docker MCP (Model Context Protocol) toolbox: docker ai` , `docker sbom` ,`docker scout`
  • Hands-on: Create an AI-ready developer container with MCP CLI tools pre-installed

Module 2: CI/CD Automation with GitHub Actions and Docker

  • Modern Docker CI pipelines with GitHub Actions
  • Writing GitHub Actions to build, tag, scan, and publish images
  • Integrating `sbom` , `scout` , and security gates in CI
  • Hands-on: End-to-end CI pipeline from build to publish with artifact verification

Module 3: Agentic AI Workflow Composition with Dagger

  • Introduction to Dagger: workflows as code using Docker
  • Using Python/Go SDKs to define and run pipelines
  • Configuring LLMs and and Containered Runs with Dagger
  • Hands-on: Compose a declarative pipeline using Dagger to build an AI Agent.

Day 2 (4 Hours)

Module 4: Gen AI Containerization with Docker Model Runner

  • Overview of Docker Model Runner and use cases
  • Running local LLMs (e.g., phi-2, LLaVA) inside containers
  • Managing GPU/CPU modes and image compatibility
  • Hands-on: Build and run a containerized GetAI app that uses a local model via Model Runner

Module 5: Agentic Workflows using container-use**

  • Understanding `container-use` for one-shot agent workflows
  • Isolated container executions for AI tools and coding agents
  • Composing and running portable agent workflows
  • Hands-on: Run a self-debugging and doc-indexing agent stack using container-use
