Overview:

This two-part online workshop equips experienced Go developers to build high-performance,

AI-integrated, and observable backend systems. It blends real-world practices in gRPC,

performance tuning, AI API integration, and service observability.

Key Objectives: 

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Optimize Go performance and gRPC usage in production

Implement observability with OpenTelemetry and resilience techniques

Integrate AI capabilities (LLMs, model serving, APIs) into Go services

Build scalable, AI-powered microservices and design robust architectures

Prerequisites:

Strong understanding of Go programming

Experience with gRPC and basic REST APIs

Familiarity with basic AI/ML concepts (no model training needed)

Optional: Python basics for ML service integration

Course Outline

Session 1: Performance, gRPC, Observability

1. Advanced gRPC & Go Runtime Tuning

  • Interceptors, retries, deadlines
  • Go scheduler, GC tuning
  • Hands-on: Middleware + pprof analysis

2. Observability & Resilience in Go

  • OpenTelemetry (tracing, metrics)
  • Rate-limiting, retries, circuit breakers
  • Hands-on: Tracing + rate limiting

3. Go Meets AI – Model Integration & APIs

  • Serving models via gRPC/REST
  • Calling AI APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.)
  • Hands-on: Go service with LLM/image API + caching

Session 2: AI-Enhanced Services & System Design

1. Building Intelligent Microservices in Go

  • AI features: recommendation, summarization
  • Go ↔ Python orchestration
  • Hands-on: ML-enhanced service logic

2. Real-World Use Cases & Design Patterns

  • Design scalable AI-enabled systems
  • Monitor AI-based systems: latency, fallback, explainability
  • Hands-on: Blueprint of AI-enhanced Go backend
